This is a site for younger business lawyers but please do NOT make this look like the traditional stodgy lawyer stereotype. This has to look clean, efficient, innovative, and interesting. Different, but not whimsical, interesting but not weird, smart in a high-tech way, but accessible. The service will require that lawyers trust the integrity of the content on the site, so it has to be somewhat serious. I looked at some pharma companies' logos (Merck, Pfizer, J & J) and found those a little to bland and serious. I want something a little more clever and cool, but not self-consciously so and not too far out. Law firm logos are definitely too bland. The users are people who are comfortable with trying all kinds of consumer websites, and something modeled around what might appeal to them as a consumer might work. However, I looked at some of the travel websites, like Expedia, HotWire, Priceline, and Travelocity, and they look kind of bland also. Some logos I like that might be helpful, though I'm not asking that you model your design on these: Intel, Lego, Amazon, Intuit, MicroSoft, and SAP. These are definitely not the only logos I like and several of them might be just a (tiny) bit serious for what I have in mind. I do like their clean, inviting, modern appearance though.
