How smigs82 started their logo design journey
We are a manufacturing company based in melbourne australia, we manufacture all kind of leather products and components across many industries. We have been in this industry for over 40 years and are looking to expand our range of products by entering the sports industry and offering a range of mainly leather grips for all kinds of sport but specializing in cycling. The origins of the logo are Italian and come from the words 'Di' meaning 'of' and 'Pelle' meaning 'leather' or 'skin'.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our products are not 'run off the mill', let me describe 3 cyclists who would purchase our products.
The Lance Armstrong want to be, watches the 'tour de france' and any other cycling event, has an expensive road cycle, is happy to spend $90.00 on a titanium bolt to save 5 grams in weight!! Often fitness obsessed, cycling is their main hobby.
The cafe late cyclist, watches the tour de France highlights, loves anything European, cycles in groups and stops for cafe` late at a cafe where many other cyclists gather. Also has an expensive road cycle.
The town bike, has a cruising bike with a leather seat and a woven basket on the front which would hold a french stick and a bottle of champagne while riding to a favourite spot by the lake.
We have a good idea of how the logo should look, it's attached to this brief, please take a minute to look at it. Take it as a good idea that we want to be strengthened and polished with a designers touch. The logo's main use will be for our online store and to be stamped onto leather products.
We want a simple logo that is eurocentric and will fit in with the European brands of bikes which are usually a single word in a stylish text and in a modern colour, see
