The subtitle of the Good Futures Society is "what are the most pressing challenges for humanity's future and how can we use our careers to address them?" We are a student society that critically thinks about the problems that affect the long-run future of humanity and how we might help solve them. We believe humanity's future could be unbelievably awesome--humanity could become an intergalactic civilization filled with friendship, curiosity, beauty, virtue, joy, thrill, love, and everything else that is good about the world. But the future could also be incredibly terrible, or completely void of any kind of moral goodness, most plausibly due to an existential catastrophe such as from superintelligent AI, nuclear war, or climate change. What can we do, if anything, to increase the likelihood the future of humanity is good and just, and that we don't go extinct? We try to answer and act upon this question.
The winning logo will probably feel like it's related to space at least somewhat. Though not necessarily. Another possibility is a logo somehow expressing "superexponential growth" or "the singularity." Please don't include heads, faces, bodies, or hearts in the logo; I really really dislike that This organization is very aligned to our mission and has a logo that kind of looks like a star: https://www.fhi.ox.ac.uk/ The attached logo is the logo of another org that is very aligned to our mission called "Lightcone"
