We need a new logo for a program dedicated to preparing for sea level rise in the Gulf of Mexico!

Purpose: The purpose of the Program for Local Adaptation to Climate Effects: Sea Level Rise (PLACE:SLR) is to increase resilience to climate change along the northern Gulf of Mexico. The program will focus on resilience issues related to water and a changing climate – specifically sea-level rise that compounds inundation and extreme rainfall events to generate a plethora of coastal flooding hazards. Hazards include but are not limited to hurricanes, nuisance flooding, erosion, coastal habitat degradation and loss, saltwater intrusion, and storm water flooding. Increased resilience will be accomplished by identifying and addressing needs of coastal decision-makers and stewards of the built and natural environments. Our program increases resilience to these hazards by creating a network of partners across the northern Gulf of Mexico who are all interested in forwarding the same goals. Geographic scope: We work in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Specifically, our region is defined as the coastal counties between the Pearl River (in Louisiana) and the Suwannee River (in Florida). Logos that contain the full program name are not required, but will also be accepted!

It would be nice to have a map of the Gulf of Mexico in the logo so people understand where we work. Maybe our specific sub-region is highlighted in some way so it stands out against the rest of the coastline? In addition, you don't need to use only blues - we would just like for them to be included since our work deals with sea level rise! Finally, we would prefer if you did not include purple in the design! Many thanks!!
