Pelorus Jack is the environmental foundation of the German-American actor Hannes Jaenicke. The aim of the foundation is to support small regional environmental protection organizations and to support independent filmmakers in documenting environmental issues.

pelorus jack was the name of a dolphin who piloted ships through a dangerous strait between 1888 and 1912 - this dolphin was the first legally protected animal in history after a passenger shot the dolphin into the fin from a ferry.
