Walter lernt
I have a bilingual web-service (http://www.personalwebcourse.com). The site and service will be split. The English version stays, but for the German platform there will carry the new brand name "Walter lernt" and get a completely new website.
Students will schedule private lessons and learn different subjects in individual live online lessons with a teacher. With the new version (Walter lernt), there will be a platform of multiple teachers teaching different subjects.
I have this cartoon figure called Walter. He is a symbol for the learning person. The designer making this "Walter" for me will design him in different situations, positions etc.
Example: For language courses in French he might be wearing typical french clothes...
German-speaking, mainly adults (m+f), wanting interested in learning Webdesign and other computer-related topics.
Later, other learning topics will be added (e.g. languages, music, ...)
What kind of clients do I have now already:
- mainly not very tech-savvy
- about half male and half female
- mainly self-employed and private
- age: 16-70y
Location of target audience:
1. Switzerland
2. Germany
3. Austria
Note: It's a web-based service but most (german-speaking) clients come from the above mentioned countries.
I have not yet decided, if the "Walter" as an image should/could be integrated in the logo. If there is a way that works, I would prefer that. Other ideas are welcome, but Walter will play a dominant role on the website, so maybe it would be best in the logo.
Another idea would be a standard logo with the attached Walter, but that the Walter in the logo can change, depending on what page the visitor is on. Example: One Walter+logo for computer courses, one Walter+logo for music and one for languages.
The Walter drawings will be done be my friend. She provides the vector graphics. Probably just the standard Walter (attached) will be needed for the logo.
What I like:
- Modern looking logo (Web 2.0 style or newer)
- Simple logos - uncluttered
- I am thinking of the text "Walter lernt" together with the Walter image (open for other/better suggestions)
- individual, recognizable look
I don't want the logo to look too child-like, because Walter already makes it slightly child-like, I don't want the text to make it look like lessons only for kids. But it should leave a human, not too serious impression.
Some logos I like:

I just want to add that I really can be convinced by your own ideas if they seem to work well.
