Great design and great designer. He was very willing to fine tune our knit-picky details.
We were looking for an icon that would add meaning to a name that is defined by local legal requirements. We got something that real told our story visually.
How Brian NYC started their logo design journey
The New York City Gay Men's Chorus (NYCGMC) is a NYC institution and a globally recognized arts organization. HARMONY is the new annual gala fundraiser benefiting the NYCGMC. The NYCGMC has a mission of fighting homophobia and promoting acceptance through the power of song. In conjunction with our 30th anniversary season, we are premiering a new gala event called HARMONY. This event replaces our previous event titled "Out on Stage." The idea is to center the event around our primary mission, with a particular focus on song.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are targeting the affluent LGBT community, and supporters of the LGBT community, in the NYC metro area. As a point of reference, ticket prices to the gala will range from $150 - $250. Within that community, we are targeting those that are philanthropic, support the arts, support the LGBT community and enjoy attending musical/Broadway events.
The goal is to have a logo that will represent this gala event most effectively - hopefully a logo that will be easily recognized and remembered and will stand the test of time. While we are launching HARMONY in conjunction with our 30th anniversary, the event itself will be our annual gala fundraiser for years to come so "30" should not be incorporated in the design. The NYCGMC website is at http://www.nycgmc.org. We will be updating our overall brand in the coming year so there is not a need to work within our current brand standards. However, on the events page of the website you can see the posters of our upcoming concerts which will give you an idea of the current direction of our creative materials. Again, please be creative - we are looking for new ideas! We will also need a logo that will translate appropriate for various collateral materials (posters, invitations, web, etc.) Some of the key words to consider when designing would be clean, elegant and upscale.
