Natural Supplements for Dogs, Horses & People

At Springtime Supplements (www.springtimeinc.com), we have our own line of all-natural products to improve the health and well being of dogs and horses. We have health products for people as well, but it's a very small part of our business. We have all natural products for insect control, joint health, immune system health, allergy relief, stress relief, and more. We recently introduced a line of all natural dog treats, so we're no longer strictly a supplements company. So we are moving away from the name "Springtime Supplements" to simply "Springtime." Our target audience consists of dog and horse owners who prefer health solutions found in nature, rather than relying exclusively on pharmaceuticals. With our new line of natural treats we are reaching an audience of consumers that want purity in their products and less additives and chemicals. Our business was founded in 1979 with horse products only, so our audience tends to skew older (40+ years old), rural, with higher incomes; however, we are seeing growth in young dog owners. Our horse owners tend to be dog owners, as well. All of our customers are independent thinkers. We currently sell to customers in the United States and Canada. We are not sold in stores; rather, we sell direct to the consumer from our website and our phone lines.
Our business is moving beyond supplements into a broader pet product line (e.g., treats & food), so we're looking to use "Springtime" in branding, and not "Springtime Inc." or "Springtime Supplements." For now, we will retain "Supplements" as part of the slogan. We are open to both a completely new logo concept or a major revamp of the current logo concept. We hope to get a mix of both strategies. The rainbow imagery in the existing logo (provided) was intended to convey "full spectrum" nutrition; however, customers never made this association, and certainly made other incorrect ones. We'd like to move away from the rainbow imagery. We also found that the rainbow aspect of the logo left us with a rainbow palette of colors, which made website and collateral design problematic. We are looking forward to designing around a palette with a single dominant color and a complementary color or two. Of course, the logo should be strong enough to work in black and white applications. We think that a green palette makes sense, but we don't want the designer to be constrained if another color makes more design sense.
