How Bethmartin90 started their logo design journey

I'm an experienced marketing communications professional who's worked at PR agencies and healthcare for the last 20 years, and I'm now taking the leap out of corporate life to start my own firm. It's just me, myself and I. I'm a writer at heart but will also be doing social media strategy, communication planning, marketing plans and whatever else my clients end up needing.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Corporate and nonprofit companies in all industries, although I'm particularly drawn to healthcare (especially hospitals), education (university-level), and outdoors/conservation-related organizations.
Clean, warm, should be modern but with a classic feel -- I don't want to look dated in a couple of years. I want to appear innovative, creative and sharp to my prospective clients. I don't want to look boring or too conservative! I want my logo to use great color; I like blues, greens, purples, pinks and reds, maybe orange. I dislike yellow, black and pastels. I like wavy lines and curves (I call it "flowy") over squares and straight lines. I don't want anything overtly "feminine." I want something that will help me stand out from the legions of out of work journalists looking for writing gigs and from unemployed marketing professionals competing with me for the same jobs. I love the designs in the Adgile logo contest currently underway,as an example of the style I like.
