Moogi needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 167 designs submitted by 34 freelance designers.
Moogi collects and organizes characters, products, music, locations and much more, as they appear in TV shows. We're a destination site for this information & we also provide data feeds to display this information in-video in real time.
Want to know what music played in the last episode of Entourage? What guest celebrities have appeared on the Simpsons? What crazy stuff has Adam eaten on Man v. Food? Find out on Moogi.
In our current logo, we do NOT like:
Inconsistent spacing between letters - 4 letters are clumped together while the last hangs off
"M" - Being the most prominent letter of our logo, we want the M to have more of a simple M shape, if that makes sense :-/
Font - We're not opposed a custom font
We DO like:
Distinctive shape - It would make a great watermark. The "oog" forms an imagery of a filmstrip, and directly links the look/feel of the logo to our brand ID. (Analogous to the subtle right-facing arrow in FedEX’s logo, which brands it as a forward moving delivery company.)
We would like to similarly maintain the brand integrity that exists in our current logo, but perhaps something a bit more abstract. We want your interpretation of the “oog” film strip to be less literal and more subtle.
Web-savvy viewers who want to learn more about the things they see and hear on TV
From our site: "Learn about products and fashion that characters wear. Find out which restaurants and bars characters eat at and go out to. Listen to music from your favorite shows."
This logo will replace our current logo (as shown at http://www.moogi.com).
In addition to appearing on our website, the logo will appear as a watermark over video (similar to how YouTube's logo looks when their videos are embedded in other sites). So although the logo can have multiple colors, it also needs to be recognizable as a single color.
This is our first 99Designs project, so please let us know if there are any more details that would be helpful. Feel free to contact me directly with questions at mlodz [at] moogi[dot]com
You should not feel obligated to reuse any aspects of the current logo, but we would like to suggest that the concept/brand identity formed by the “oog”, serve as a starting point for the new logo. We could approach this in 2 ways:
1. Integrated Font/Logo: This sample would be both a font & integrated logo that basically takes what we’ve started with to the next level.
(Example: FedEX)
2. Name on separate font AND unique icon: This sample would be a unique font to illustrate Moogi’s name along with a separate icon designed to what you believe defines Moogi’s brand.
(Example: Twitter – unique font and color scheme & separate bird icon)
Colors: any combination of fading gray scale, white, blue or orange (Approximately #0047AA, #FAA50B)
File formats: we'd like a vector file, an SVG or Adobe Illustrator format, as well as a bitmap file, jpg, gif, or png
