Among other places, this logo will be used on the organization's new website that's currently being built (http://www.indiahouseinc.org/)
It should be simple.
It'd be nice if the logo renders in black and white as well as in color (for print materials that might be photocopied).
The logo should integrate the organization's name "India House Houston", but the emphasis should be on the "India House" part. The "Houston" part should be there, but it doesn't need to be equal in size/treatment to the India House part of it. (To explain my thinking: most people refer to the organization locally as "India House" -- since it's a local organization, the "Houston" designation is mostly just useful for the website and when it's being discussed outside of Houston.)
One theme that one *might* integrate in a logo design is the rotunda of the India House building (see attached photographs or this page on the architect's webpage: http://www.rdlr.com/projects.asp?in…projid=108.
The rotunda has a really nice lattice work design in it too-- that's something to consider integrating into the design.
Also, one could integrate is the Indian flag and/or its colors-- but this could ALSO be very trite. So beware.
Finally, I really like logo marks/typefaces (like FedEx, PayPal, Lenovo, Cisco, Google), but that shouldn't rule out graphical logos.
The files we will require are:
