Drive Golfware
I am an entrepreneur in my late 20's always looking for another idea or project to start. I love the game of golf and sports in general. When I play sports I like to dress the part and look professional. I like the look of name brands and think that a recognizable image plays a big role in looking good.
Realistically, I am not trying to compete with the big boys directly (Nike, Callaway, Ping). I want to provide a product that matches the quality and professional look of these brands, but at a better price that the casual, younger golfer can afford.
This logo will be used for a golf apparel brand. Keep that in mind. It will be on the sleeves and chests of shirts.
I would like a professional quality logo that can stand alone and be recognized and also be combined with text to complete brand identity. (i.e. the Nike 'swoosh' by itself everyone knows, but they also add the word 'Nike' above the swoosh in some uses.
I've attached a scan of a VERY SIMPLE SKETCH of the letter 'D' that I came up with as the basis for the logo/symbol. I would like to see some workups of this sketch in different color schemes. It should be used only as a basis for ideas--not as a final graphic.
I would love to see other ideas as well. The letters 'DG' made into a logo. A logo that does not use letters at all. I would prefer something more horizontal than vertical. Something as simple as the Nike Golf logo I like a lot. I wouldn't mind seeing pure text logos.
The key is a very professional, established look. Look at the logos of Nike, Adidas, Callaway, Puma, and others. What I don't want is a logo that looks like the Ashworth or Greg Norman logo. If you can put it up to the previously mentioned company logos and it looks like it fits in then you're on the right trail.
