Branding: We are committed to products that are healthy, delicious, exotic, organic, and gluten-free and that have positive social (as well as environmental) impact. We seek a logo that conveys our values and is both professional and personal.
Our story has been important to our success thus far. Global Village Fruits' founder is a pre-medical college student/woman and social entrepreneur at Harvard.
Product types: Diverse!
Dried ripe jackfruit [dried fruit], dried tender jackfruit [meat substitute], and jackfruit seed flour [gluten-free flour] initially, expanding to other fruits/fruit products in the future.
Retail outlets: Specialty/natural/gourmet initially, expanding outward later.
Whole Foods supermarkets, Nordstrom Cafe, other gourmet and specialty food and grocery stores initially, perhaps expanding to more mainstream stores further in the future.
Target market: Includes all ages and both sexes.
Gluten-free and vegetarian consumers span all ages and both sexes. Of specialty food consumers, those 55-64 spend the most. Dried fruit and nuts have typically appealed to persons 35-64 but innovative marketing is attracting younger persons too. Our products appeal to persons who seek healthy, active lifestyles. Our dried jackfruit in particular is an excellent replacement for a banana in terms of nutrition for endurance athletes.
