Peter Peterson needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 215 designs submitted by 57 freelance designers.
Indigenous Sails
Indigenous Sails is an association working for the preservation of exotic sailing ships in the developing world, like Arabian dhows, Brazilian jangadas and Polynesian outriggers. The organization promotes new and different ways of operating these traditional local sailing vessels, with the aim the survival of these ships and the local maritime traditions they represent.
We need a logo that can be used for the internet (website, emails) and in print (business cards and letters). This logo should contain the name of the association – Indigenous Sails – and preferably some sail shapes of traditional sailing boats. Three sail shapes could be put in the logo, but we are open for other options too.
Check on this blogspot-site for a list of 12 pictures of some of the sails of these exotic boats. Paste the following URL in the search bar of your browser (not in Google, its not on a search engine):
http://www.indigenoussailsorg.blogspot.com
and it should pop up. Also check out the older messages on this blog, there should be twelve pictures in total. Do not start to design something before you´ve seen the pics of the sails. If you have problem accessing them send us on indigenous.sails@yahoo.com
Try to be creative with these sails!
Although the main users of especially the website will be Western male boating aficionados between 30 and 60 years of age, the official target audience of the project are high end companies in the international sailing vessel manufacturing sector. They as potential sponsors need to become interested in becoming associated with Indigenous Sails. Therefore the logo should have a business-like appeal and convey the message that these exotic boats are not something dusty destined for museums but instead are alive that have a future.
The files we will require are:
- Print file format - .ai (CMYK)
- Web file format - .jpg and layered .psd (RGB)
Furthermore:
– vector design,
– the logo must also work in black and white.
Please do not use stock images or clip art in the logo, and only use work that can be fully transferred to us upon winning the contest. Looking forward to see your creative ideas!
