Santa Ynez Valley Thoroughbred Association (SYVTA)
The SYVTA is an association focused on the Thoroughbred horse in Santa Ynez. Members are breeders, trainers, and owners of Thoroughbred horses used for racing, showing, riding, and breeding. Santa Ynez is in California wine country, and many people involved in the industry also own or have interest in vineyards or hospitality.
See above - it is a very specific audience.
We want a classic, iconic, and recognizable logo that will distinguish the association and be appropriate for association literature, web presence, etc. We are strongly leaning towards a circular logo, a la the Jockey Club:

We want the logo to be distinct and unique, but definitely not cluttered. The logo should definitely include the association's acronym (SYVTA) or the full name of the association (Santa Ynez Valley Thoroughbred Association). We would like the logo to include something iconic that references the Thoroughbred horse, but again, not something cluttered (and definitely not a cheesy horse drawing). Again, note the Jockey Club's incorporation of a buckled strap in their logo (but please, no outright copies of the JC logo).
The association's new colors will be burgundy, ivory, and green, and we would like at least two of those colors to be used in the logo. Some web colors that could be used so that you can get an idea of hue (look them up if you need to here: http://www.visibone.com/colorlab/):
Burgundy: 990033, 993333, 990000, 660000, or CC0033
Ivory: FFFFCC or FFFF99
Green: 003300, 333300, or 006600
Please feel free to post any questions you may have. We're excited to see what you come up with!
