The name DONGXii is a combination of two Chinese characters
东, pronounced "Dōng" ==> means "the East" in English
西, pronounced "Xi" ==> means "the West" in English
If you put the characters "dong" and "xi" together to Dōngxi => 东西 (simplified Chinese) or 東西 (traditional Chinese) the meaning translate into "things". A popular Chinese phrase is to "mai dongxi", which means "to shop".
Our name plays with the different meanings of those characters. To add a little bit of a twist to the very common, generic word of "things" we added an extra "i" to Dongxi so that our final name is DONGXii. Currently, we are writing the first sylable in capital letters "DONG" and the second
sylable with only the first character capitalized "Xi". You can be creative about how to use the name in graphics and written language. Wether it is DONGXii, dongxii, DX, DXi, DXii, DX App, DXApp, 东西, 東西, Dōngxi, etc.
