Wood-Shield Plastic Coated Posts - The green alternative to chemically treated timber

Wood-Shield is a relatively new company with a revolutionary new and internationally patented plastic coating technology for covering wooden fencing posts providing an environmentally friendly alternative to chemically treated pine posts (known as CCA wood posts) typically used in Agriculture, Viticulture, Aquaculture and equestrian industries.

The owners of Wood-Shield have over 20 years experience in environmentally sustainable / eco friendly industries. Their primary business is a leading Australian recycling company. The acquisition of the Wood-Shield business and its integration into their group of businesses will provide unique integration opportunities and ensure that 2 great Australian companies are ready to take on the world.

Whilst the product has been used in Australia over the past couple of years providing verification of the value of the product as a viable replacement to treated wood and plastic posts, the product caters to a global audience as many countries are phasing out or have now outlawed the use of chemically treated timber products.

Wood-Shield posts are a totally chemical-free option and being environmentally conscious the plastic (polyethylene) used is primarily from recycled dripper tube.

Target markets (Australia and NZ initially moving to global over next 12 to 24 months)
1. Viticulture -
a. number one opportunity - low hanging fruit
b. Sales approach direct to market – end user
c. Wholesale – negotiate distribution with major retail chains
d. Seasonal product application
1. Maintenance period is approximately April to November
2. Buying period around April (Australian market)
3. Repair at anytime during year. Replacement through breakage

2. Aquaculture -
a. number two opportunity - low hanging fruit
b. Sales approach direct to market – end user
c. Oyster farming is primary market for this sector
i. Summer is when they receive high season sales (Australian Market)
ii. Maintenance period is approximately February through to October / November
d. Prawn Farming has not been pursued, some research is required to quantify the opportunity from this market sector
e. Possible new business opportunity in water structures e.g. jetties, etc.

3. Equestrian -
a. New market opportunity
b. No real presence as this stage.
c. Price competitive market - several product offerings
i. General yard and stable fencing
ii. Electric fencing
iii. Horse jump poles - opportunity in England including fencing
e. Primary markets
i. Horse studs
ii. Equestrian & polo centres
iii. Training facilities
iv. Race clubs

4. General Agriculture / farming / hobby farming

Requirements

The Wood-Shield logo needs to communicate the product and intention to a global audience and be understood in multiple languages and by multiple cultures or ethnicities.

The Wood-Shield position statement which will most likely support the logo is: Wood-Shield – “The Premier Coated Wood Post”

Also note that the ‘-‘ between the words ‘Wood’ and ‘Shield’ Wood-Shield is not mandatory as long as there remains a distinction between the words i.e. it could be presented as log of type ‘WoodShield’ with the first letter of each word presented as a capital.

Whilst there is an existing company/product logo, this is not to be used as a guide as a fresh approach to the presentation of the company is required and one which will communication to a global audience. You can view this logo at the company's website http://www.woodshield.com.au

The image on the site associated with the log of type is visually descriptive of the end product and this could be used/redesigned as a component of the logo. All other aspects are expected to change i.e font, presentation style, color, etc

The final logo will be required to be delivered in multiple electronic file formats suitable for publishing too web/internet/e-mail, high quality printed materials, Television/video.
