FirstLight Partners LLC
The name of my consulting firm was chosen because I am originally from Maine, the first state to get the sunrise. In addition, I like the suggestion that the clients I will be partnering with to provide consulting services are receiving some light from me. I have been part of the management team of several hedge funds and am now setting out on my own to run a consulting business that provides clients with some of the same expertise I used to provide in my in-house senior roles.
The focus of the consulting will be on Human Capital (HR, recruiting, training and development, etc) and relationship management (the client firm's relationship with Wall Street and investors.)
The firm to start will be only me, but over time may grow to include other professionals providing similar consulting services to investment firms. I am a business person (have my MBA) but did my undergrad in studio art and art history, so I have a strong aesthetic sense as well.
The personality I am trying to get across is professional but at the same time a look people would want to embrace. Since the consulting I am doing is around relationships and people, I feel that the logo should be approachable but still business-like.
I will be working with and selling to CEOs and senior management teams at hedge funds, private equity firms -- senior investment professionals. Additionally, people that will refer business to me are Wall Street partners to these firms -- prime brokers and equity sales people, analysts, and other service providers to the investment community.
I prefer professional, stylish, clean and logos. I would like a couple of colors and a good font but not anything that is so involved that it is overly expensive to replicate.
I am in a debate about calling the business FirstLight Partners LLC (first word as one word) or First Light Partners LLC but am leaning toward the former. I have both names registered. I am open to counsel on this choice.
I do not want the logo to be specific to the services provided, but prefer a more stylized version of what the name suggests -- light, or something that looks professional and supportive, able to aid in the growth and development of my client.
I think the best logos are logos where the logo almost has its own personality -- the Nike swirl, the bank of America flag, Purina checks, etc.
