boardees.com
I am based in Melbourne and am in the process of formulating a new online business selling boardshorts (surfing trunks) to the public. Business plans have been locked down, alliances with suppliers are in place and a decision has been made on the business name. The website will ultimatley be seen as a trusted, cool, trendy website, with a touch of "grunge" to appeal to the target market. As such the logo or brand mark needs to relect this.
Younger audience - anywhere between 12-30 would be the main target market. Surfers, youths, people a little bit wild and adventurous.
However, parents may come on the website to purchase for thier children or family. The website will also sell a range of women's boardshorts too, so the logo needs to communicate to these various target audiences.
Need a logo developed for the new entity "boardees.com". The logo needs to be unique and not overpower the surf brands that will be sold on the website. The logo could have its own shape or symbol placed alongside the wording boardees.com
I really don't think the logo needs to be bright and colourful and almost think that something simple, perhaps even just black and white may just do the trick!
If you look at the following link you can see a range of surf logos. Below this I have made notes of what I do and don't like from some of these..
http://www.mordysurf.com.au/img/bra…s_surf.gif
Logos I like (from the above link)
- Insight
- Billabong
- Lee
- Hurley
- Gravis
Logos I don;t like (from the above link):
- Quicksilver
- Mactavish
- Rip Curl
- Volcom
- Stussy
- Mermaid sister
So from the above so you should get a feel for what I am after.... I do like the idea of having some sort of shape or element that can be used with or without the boardees.com wording.
Really it just needs to be simple, clean yet have some element that relates to the target audience (i.e. surfers). Remember the site will be selling boardshorts!
Update: I don't k now if like the idea of having a pair of boardshorts in the logo.
Good luck :)
