House Ear Institute, the world's leading medical organization for hearing related diseases and disorders, is changing its name to House Research Institute to recognize its broadening mission.
Below is the current logotype. The stylized cochlea (part of the inner ear that looks like a shell) is often printed in gold and burgundy, an accent color that is often used with the current logo.

For the future logo:
We would like for the name to be a part of the entire logotype, not just a symbol alone. Therefore, type font selection is also an important part of any design consideration.
We are a serious medical research and education organization so the image should not be whimsical.
The logo should reproduce well in black and white and gray tone as well as color. We are open to other color choices.
The logo may be used with and without taglines. Our new tagline will be "improving lives through hearing science". How the tagline is incorporated in the design is important.
Some words that have been used to describe the Institute include:
Forward thinking and forward moving
Leading edge science
