Logo types to explore
Hello, designers. I'll try to provide a lot of details and be very specific, hopefully not exceedingly so. ; ) Darfyx provides exercises in German, but over the next year I plan to extend it to 3-4 other european languages, so I don't want the logo to be German culture specific, or in fact any country specific. Since it will interact with a variety of languages, I picked a name that does not mean anything in any (but then hard to remember). Now I want a pictorial logo that will be memorable and stick to the user's mind. It could be a bird, a feather, a horse, a tree, a sun, etc. This is when I most need your insight, what should we use here as a sign? You may also tweak plain and ordinary drawings around. Darfyx distinguishes itself from live courses, books and other websites on that its exercises are automatically generated every time. Users visit the website and practice for 20-30 minutes a day for weeks sometimes, enhancing their knowledge steadily over time. The exercises never end, as they are always randomly being recreated. It's like people who study using paper cards with question and answer on each side. Then I guess key words and ideas that we want to express are: - simplicity, easy to use - very straightforward (it's free, requires no registration) - excellence seeking, keep practicing until you really learn - devoted learner - memorization (most exercises are on that) - repetitiveness (trying to bring it up as a good thing, progressive learning) - complementary to lessons (it does not provide any) I tried to arrange them decreasingly to importance. It will not be easy to address all of them in any single logo, but of course the more each of them is embraced, the better. I am currently working with dark green rgb(0,100,0) and gray rgb(195,195,195), but as I expand the website green will become orange, purple, red, brown, etc in some sections. Background will always be white. So I suggest we work on a logo that is green and gray, keeping in mind that it must also work well with other colors too, and I can make those changes in the vector file as they become necessary. If you need more colors than two, use black, white, other greens and grays. You could use other different colors if they do not screen the main one (green). A few more things I can think of: - unlike the current version, I would like Darfyx or DARFYX, not darfyx - modern, but nothing hi-tech - horizontal layout is preferred - clean, simple - smooth curves over straight lines I have uploaded some logos I found, they all have something of what I need, but none are quite like it... Try not to overweight them against this text description. I also found that I especially like airline logos for this project for some reason... I will pick the final logo upon three things: - what has been picked as a sign/symbol/icon - I have given some ideas, but I really want to see things I haven't thought of - font type - not yet sure about what I want, it needs to correlate to the ideas above - the drawing of the sign/symbol/icon - it may happen that I like the theme but I ask to recreate or modify the drawing to one or another direction All three related to the key words and ideas given. This is all I have to say now. Please address any questions, before or during your creation. I'll try to respond as quickly as possible to get you back on your work. If I think of any other general guidelines I'll post them when they come up.
