‘Little Mouths’ is a range of refrigerated toddler food that is fresh, nutritious, wholesome, convenient and guilt free. The range is has refrigerated multi packs with toddler sized portions of home style cooked meals. They are designed to introduce toddlers (1-3 year olds) to a wider range of food and accustom them to the ‘problem foods’ that mums and dads find that their kids refuse to eat. From speaking to a wide range of parents the problem that continually came up was that they couldn’t buy ready-made nutritious food for their toddlers from the supermarket. Because their toddlers ate dinner at different times than they did, they would save some of their dinner from the night before which means that they had to cook with minimal flavours, spices and variety. Another option was to pre make casseroles and freeze them in toddler portions then defrost them at meal times. ‘Little Mouths’ will have these pre made packs of food available at the supermarket in the fridge aisle so those busy working mums and dads who haven’t had time to pre make a batch of food can swing past on their way home from work and pick up a guilt free pack of nutritious food for their child. Because of the multi pack form they could use one for each night of the week or freeze the ones that they didn’t use and keep for a later date. The packs would be freezible and microwavable so convenient for immediate use as well as storage. From the competitor analysis I’ve done in supermarkets there is no product on the market similar to this. 99% of the baby food is kept on the shelves and the only toddler meals that I found on the shelf were Heinz tinned spaghetti range which have added sugar, maize thickeners and are not seen as a nutritious meal for kids. The baby food, even though a majority of it was preservative free, made me question how fresh it was. Would you eat a main meal that didn’t need to be kept in the fridge and had a shelf life of 2 years? Does it make you feel that it’s a wholesome nutritious fresh option? If you wouldn’t eat it yourself, would you really want to feed it to your baby if the alternative was two aisles away in the fridge section? Three of the meals in the range are Cheesy Beef & Broccoli Meat Balls with Mini Shell Pasta, Chicken and Mushroom Casserole with Brown Rice and Beef Chilli with White Rice.
Logo types to explore
As the range I have created is for 1-3 year olds, I’m a bit worried about narrowing my target market by having a picture of a child on the logo. The reason being is if the child looks closer to 1yo then parents might think that it wouldn’t be suitable for their 3yo and vice versa. I want to get the message across that the meals are designed for the full 3 years. I’m looking for a logo that portrays fun, fresh, young, tasty, wholesome and convenient
