ericd4 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Labradors, Chainsaws, Pizza Ovens. Eclectic DIY YouTube Channel Logo Design
Check out ericd4's Logo design contest…
GardenFork is a DIY YouTube Channel, our typical viewer is a guy who lives in the subdivision in the suburbs of Chicago on a 1/4 acre lot, and wants to do what I am doing. The opening title of each video features a DIY pizza oven and the words: Make, Fix, Grow, Cook. I’m looking for a logo in a bamboo stick, pen and ink, sharpie, lino block, B&W organic style that can express visually, those 4 words and a bit more, please read through my thoughts below. I appreciate you taking the time. The main use of the logo will be for identity and will be part of all our videos, it will appear in one of the corners of the video frame all the time. (Much like many TV networks.) Eventually it will be printed large on t-shirts and as a spray stencil I’ll have made up from the artwork. GardenFork is a YouTube Channel and iTunes podcast which can be basically described as eclectic DIY (Do It Yourself) with a certain whimsical sense of humor. I’m all about ‘hey let’s try this and see what happens’ I've been described as a knowledgeable but slightly dangerous neighbor. i like chainsaws and fire. Life isn’t perfect, neither is GardenFork. My main mantras are: • Done is Better Than Perfect • Use What You Got • Embrace Failure (If you don’t fail, you aren’t learning) • Karma Is Boomerang These vids will tell you a lot about my world. Watch the our trailer : https://www.youtube.com/gardenfork Here is a compilation vid: https://youtu.be/ChkeGnuqnFE The show has evolved and now has less gardening and cooking, and more how-to and DIY, but the name has a lot of brand awareness, so I have to keep it. Another huge component of the show is our Labradors, which don’t have to be in the logo, but is an option. I have included some photos for reference. One of the Labs in B/W silhouette might be neat or combine a silo of one of the Labs with a tool or two. (No goofy dog drawings, please) I also like using my flamethrower in the show, so flames could be incorporated as well. Some iconography with maybe a power tool, axe, chainsaw, hammer. Or a power tool and a kitchen tool? No plants or bees in the logo, please. Tools and Labradors maybe? It would be nice if the ‘GardenFork’ name could sit just under or on the side of the logo, so it could be used in some situations, and not in others. In the videos, as a bug in the lower corner of the vid frame for example, the name would not be used. Previous versions of the GardenFork name have been mainly in the Courier Typeface, I prefer the more industrial version of Courier rather than the smooth curvy version. Of course I am open to whatever, as I am not the expert. Thanks! eric.
