tolucatutors got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Ivy League-esque tutoring logo that appeals to both parents and students

I run a small, boutique tutoring company for private school students. We go tutor at the students' homes and try to tailor our style of teaching to their needs specifically. My clients are mostly upscale and I would like the logo to have a sort of Ivy League feel, but a bit more youthful/playful. The elegant quality of the logo could initially attract the parents, but I don't want it to feel TOO stodgy for the students.
I’m mostly interested in wordmark and emblem logos, but I’m open to all ideas. I would love the name to be a unique/stylized font in some way, even if it utilizes a simple serif that has been slightly modified. I think that is important, to look customized and not like I threw this together in Photoshop/InDesign. "Educational" imagery/symbolism COULD be utilized (like owls, books, or others), but it's not necessarily a need if doing so hinders a good design. I like the idea of a crest--but perhaps not in such a literal sense. A play on a crest perhaps?

Heberson was really great. He drew exactly what I wanted, following perfectly my brief. When I asked him for a correction, he made it in a few hours. I recommend him. ;)
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
