I am starting an Investment Fund and needed a logo for my new company. I chose the Silver package and gave some guidance as to what I was looking for.
I would probably do a Blind Contest if I was going to do it again because once you give good feedback on 1 or 2 designs tons of designers copy that design and rarely put out anything original. Although, this can be ideal for someone who has tight parameters for what they want.
Another thing to watch out for is for logo recycling. Sometimes a few of the logos that are submitted already exist or a slight variations of what already exists. I wanted something unique, which I anticipate most people do.
Overall, it was a good experience if you rate the designs and give specific feedback the designers are very accommodative. I received over 220 designs before I selected my finalists. I would recommend this service to a friend.

This logo is for a hedge fund, but instead of being super focused on creating a traditional finance style logo think of this company more as a tech finance company. Modern, sleek, and timeless is what i am going for.
My target audience = high net worth individuals and institutions (endowments, pensions, sovereign wealth funds, family estates, etc.)
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
I would like a black or a light black to be a part of the color scheme but am open to other colors.

I like the picture logo
I like the font, cool picture
*UPDATE* A few of the designs I have seen so far are for more traditional finance companies. I am looking for something more modern and techy. Here's a question to ask about your design, would the logo look good and unique as an app icon on the iPhone? I am not creating an app, but I think this question will help guide your artistic flair!
-I do like geometric type logo's. It doesn't have to be a literal translation of obsidian, but should be a figurative interpretation of the adjectives I listed below.
-Please don't submit anything cliche to traditional finance companies. Like a line chart with an increasing equity line, or a bar chart with increasing bars
-I am open to different color schemes, but Red is difficult to use since it is associated with losses in finance
A marketing friend of mine asked me for a few things I believe to be apart of my competitive advantage. I posted a few of the adjectives I came up with below to help guide you:
