April 17 *** UPDATE ****
I've uploaded our existing logo so designers can see how we want to integrate our target market (physiotherapy) into our logo. I'd love to see what designers can do to make a new fresh logo that appeals to physiotherapists.
Mavenlive is Web 2.0 application which helps physiotherapists around the world with their patient care. It allows the therapists to enter in their patients assessment in a point and click fashion. Once their patient data has been entered into the system it is then run through Mavenlive's knowledgebase (which is knowledge that has been provided from experts worldwide) which can then automatically suggest best practice treatments, like which exercises to put the patient on to have the recover most effectively.
The term 'Maven' is considered a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others. We came up with the name Mavenlive since it is an online resource where you can seek suggestions for particular types of treatments based on the type of patient you have entered.
The 'live' in Mavenlive was included in the name because the application is 'live' online, and the knowledgebase is continually growing. It is a live database, always growing and always accessible to our users. We encourage our users to enter their expertise and share it others around the world. No one is an expert at everything, but everyone is an expert at something. We are building a platform where knowledge can be exchanged and shared easily, allowing experts and non-experts to come together and share their best practices.
We understand feedback is important and we will provide our best feedback many times a day to help guide the design process.
The target market for Mavenlive is physiotherapists and physical therapists around the world. These type of people are generally very active and fit, and pride themselves in rehabilitation and well-being and helping others (their patients) get better.
We want this logo to appeal to both individual therapists (as they are the ones who will be using it) as well as clinic owners (who are the ones who will generally pay for their subscription).
We also want the logo to appeal to larger institutions like hospitals or health care companies. So we want to show a sense of integrity and reliability to these types of organization.
We want to have a certain 'cool' 'fresh' 'new' factor to this industry. Physiotherapists feel like their industry has advanced a great deal, but the tools and technology directed towards them have stayed in the past. We are offering something truly new, unique and powerful to them, and we want that to be reflected in the logo. We want therapists to be connected to our company feeling like their involved in something bigger by being a Mavenlive user. They will be connected to others in their profession and be contributing to making the industry better, by providing their knowledge and relying on knowledge of others.
We're looking for a 'fresh' logo which inspires excitement and connectivity. We're looking for a strong logo to be recognizable and standout from the crowd.
We want the logo to not feel so much like software, but more a culture that these therapists are a part of. Sharing, learning, treating better, helping others, etc.
We're looking to use this logo on the web, (our website, and throughout our web application) as well as on print (letterheads, and stationary) so please keep that in mind when creating your designs. Must look good both in colour and black and white (if it were to be on a letterhead).
After the closing of this contest we will host another contest to ask for a new website layout and design based on the new logo. The winner of this contest may be directly contracted to design the website layout beyond this contest.
