Inspire, Growth, Passion, Success
Help us design a new logo! We don't have a logo for our research project and have been asked to present/pitch it at a big conference. We need help to make us look good. This project may evolve into something that will change how teachers and students assess 'soft skills' in the future. (Maybe become a game or an app or both...!) We are trying to re-envision and reinvent assessment in education to better serve our students as they build basic life skills to survive in the 21st Century. Can you help us? If so, here's how. You can either re-design the logo or just throw in some new graphical ideas that will help move us forward in the design process. Here's some info about us and what we're doing: We are a group of researching educators piloting a project we’ve named iGPS (I - Inspire, G- Growth,P- Passion, S- Success.) It is a project that is meant to assess student’s 21st century skills in the classroom. This website/logo is meant to illustrate our process, classroom pilots, and to educate and engage the public in our project and it’s mission. The foundation of iGPS is a blending of traditional student learning models with new and innovative 21st century learning ideas, known as “soft skills”. We define these soft skills as the “5 C’s” - communication, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and citizenship. Through self and peer assessment, students use the 5 Cs to assess themselves and one another on how they work on a team and in the classroom. The iGPS project helps students construct the narrative and navigate through the journey of their learning by using the 5Cs: - We’re providing students with a critical vocabulary, the very terms that help explain the larger, informing purposes of their classroom experiences - We’re helping them to reflect seriously and purposefully on the meanings of those terms, the multiple interpretive debates that swirl around notions of “citizenship,” “creativity,” and “critical thinking” - And we’re encouraging them to figure out how they can relate the “story” of their educational growth to others in a meaningful way — a way that goes beyond fairly hollow references to a grade, a number, an exam, a college credit, or a precise research project and, instead, focuses on skills, competencies, and abilities. Here's some info about what the logo should look like: Size: NO RESTRICTIONS Font: NO RESTRICTIONS We are wide open to ideas. Some ideas: maybe something like a compass (navigation imagery - GPS like) or a circular logo that features the 5Cs (or not....?) - Can't wait to see what you create.
