retail greenhouse needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 442 designs submitted by 99 freelance designers.
We need a simple yet eye catching wordmark / logo for kobaro, a company developing and retailing well designed home entertainment products.
kobaro
kobaro is a brand of modern, well designed Home Entertainment products, such as DVD players, Televisions, Audio Equipment, portable media players etc
All products will be branded kobaro and will be retailed exclusively through kobaro stores.
The Logo must be simple, yet stand out from the crowd, timeless, yet modern. It will be used on the products, hence it needs to be black/white or linedrawing.
kobaro, as a name, must be the key component of the logo, easily identified and readable. We don't require pretty pictures or backgrounds.
Think apple, nike, IKEA

We have today held a focus group of 12 people around 30 designs to get more direction and input, the focus group was completely unaware about our business.
- All italic wordmarks were associated with sports, transport or travel, hence we need to steer away from italics
- The women in the group, prefered lighter wordmarks and also rounder eg #224 & #110. Women are our main target market.
- The audio symbols were associated with sound or music, the play or on/off buttons were not understood
- There was a general issue with readability of several of the proposals we put in front of them, it is necessary that it is easily read fast from any distance, we will use this to both brand products as well as on our stores.
- Black / White only
- kobaro must be with a unique type face
- The name kobaro must not be written by a generic type face
