Commerical hop grower in the U.S. mid-Atlantic region serving local craft breweries. Hops raised on 6th generation family farm that dates back pre -revolution circa 1750. The Farm is located in Jefferson County WV in the Shenandoah Valley, and is listed on the US Dept Interior National Register of historic places https://web.archive.org/web/2013020…000486.pdf George Washington surveyed the property and was friends with the original owner who received the farm as a land grant from Lord Fairfax in 1750. It is one of the oldest continuously farmed properties in the U.S. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bever…_Virginia)
Currently, the hop yard is located on the banks of the Bullskin Run, a tributary of the Shenandoah river. History and the story of the farm are important to me and I want to incorporate that aspect into "my story" or my "why" as I sell a high value specialized crop directly to craft brewers, who can then in turn leverage the "locally grown" aspect and are willing to pay a premium for the product. I sell whole hop cones as well as hop pellets direct to brewers. Hopyard established 2012.

The intended market for my product (Hops) is craft brewers. The history of farm and location in the Shenandoah Valley are important to my business model of leveraging a "locally grown" product for a premium over market price.
