Quentin! got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Help our schools build a culture of belonging for Black families
Check out Quentin!'s Logo design contest…
We are looking for a modern logo (text and icon) to help launch Becraft Scholars. Since we don't know exactly what Anne Marie Becraft looked like, we need to find some creative way to represent her and what this program stands for. We want something SIMPLE and MEMORABLE. Becraft Scholars is an equity program for the Catholic schools of Western Washington. Anne Marie Becraft was a young black girl in the 1820s who started the country's first Catholic school for Black children. She became a nun in her 20s, and died before she was 30. Becraft Scholars gives nine-year scholarships to cohorts of families, with priority given to Black applicants, and enacts interventions at the school level aimed at building a culture of belonging for all students. The target audience for the logo should be a) Families of color with school age children, and b) Potential funders for the program, primarily Catholic, older, and somewhat conservative. I realize that's a broad range. Becraft Scholars will be a part of Fulcrum Foundation: https://www.fulcrumfoundation.org/.
