Who are you known as?
Orphan Disease Center
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The Orphan Disease Center is a nonprofit organization within the School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. We focus on making rare disease research accessible to affected populations across the globe. In this context, "orphan" is synonymous with "rare." There are roughly 7,000 rare diseases in the world, 1 in 10 Americans are living with a rare disease and about 350 million people worldwide are affected. About half of those affected are children. The Orphan Disease Center's mission is to develop transformative therapies using platform technologies to meet the needs of the most under-served rare disease communities. Pursuing and supporting rare disease research and development of treatments is our priority.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
The Orphan Disease Center is not a pharmaceutical company, and we don't treat patients. We are a research organization committed to developing treatments for rare diseases, and serve as advocates for patient communities across the globe. I am attaching a draft example of a newsletter we are sending out next month to use as a reference. We would like to avoid using a DNA strand, as not all rare diseases are genetic. We would also like to avoid using hands in the logo, as we previously used them and want to differentiate from our old logo.
