Sven.krause got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Help Meridian Laboratory capture 50 years of engineering innovation with a new logo design

About Us We are a small, but very established company. While we have a storied history working with some of the largest companies in the world, we don’t like to rest on our laurels. We work just as hard to serve our clients and build a portfolio of clients including names like NASA, SpaceX, 3M, DuPont, MillerCoors, Proctor & Gamble, GE, Johnson and Johnson, and more. What you should know about our products Our products represent the pinnacle of technical engineering capability. In many cases, our customers come to us because there is nobody else who can make what they need. We pride ourselves on precision solutions tailored to the customer they’re built for, and we take a clean, innovative approach to delivering those solutions. We serve customers in pretty much every industry imaginable, and they all come to us for one reason, we design and engineer consistent and reliable solutions they can depend on, no matter what their application. Our Brand Our primary Corporate colors are blue and white (See our website and social media for use examples). We also use a smattering of cool greys. The brand could use a contrast accent color for very sparing use, so feel free to include one, but, like anything new, we’re as likely to like it as not like it. Do not use red, we do not use red in our corporate color palette whatsoever. Our Text should be Sans Serif. Our preference is for clean text with high readability and minor customization. Fonts that generally fit the tone of what we’re looking for include Helvetica, Futura, Century Gothic, Roboto, Montserrat. Customization to text for the purpose of a Text Mark is fine, but it is critical to stay true to the original design elements of the font in question. Look at the listed fonts and you should immediately see the commonalities. There’s hints there for a great designer who knows how to find them. Logo Applications The logo should be created or formatted so it can be applied digitally and in print, as well as being lasered on finished products and embroidered/screen printed. Extreme gradients and overly fine detail do not play well with how we apply our logo, so remember that in your design. We also use our logo on white or very light backgrounds 95% of the time. The logo should not be “dark”, but it should be distinct enough that in the middle of a blank white page it is clearly visible and recognizable. Overall Feel The logo should be clean, minimal, innovative, and distinct. Past logos have fused lettering with globes, but we’re looking for examples of something different. We know well what we can do, we’re more concerned with what we haven’t thought of. A winning design will encompass the following qualities/ideas in a logo/text mark, or combination of the two: • Innovation • Design • Engineering • Sophistication • Intelligence • Clean • Timeless Logo composition should be geometrically and dimensionally sound! Precision and attention to detail is of utmost importance.
Feel free to visit our website at www.meridianlab.com, or any of our social media channels to get a feel for how we look and how our brand is applied. Our logo is a an important part of that, and we're looking for something that both simplifies who and what we are to our customers, and maintains a feel consistent with a company that has been in the business of innovation for over 50 years.
