Chronic Insights is a mobile app designed to help people with chronic long-term health conditions document and visualise their symptoms over time. I'm mainly targeting conditions involving chronic pain and / or fatigue (like arthritis, MS, lupus, ME, fibromyalgia, migraines etc), but in theory it could be literally any health condition where symptoms change a lot over time.
The main reason for the app is that invisible illnesses which affect people every day, and which constantly change, are incredibly hard to manage. It's hard to describe to other people how it feels, it's hard to remember everything that has happened when you have a doctors appointment, it's hard to figure out what helps and what triggers symptoms, and it makes people feel isolated and like they are battling an invisible nemesis on their own, which nobody else is aware of.
The app is designed to help this a little, by allowing people to easily record how they are feeling, what symptoms they have, where on their body is being affected etc. so that they can show it to their doctor, friends / family, employer or whoever they want to, and so that they can see patterns and trends and gain some insight to help them manage. The coolest features of the app are it's visualisations - the different graphs and images that are used to present the user's symptom data.
There is also a community element, in that the user can optionally donate their symptom data to a free, public, anonymous data set of symptoms for their condition. The idea is to allow people to see what (on average) other people with the same condition experience, and what events they thing help or aggravate their symptoms.
The name comes from Chronic (as in chronic / lifelong / recurring condition) and Insights (because people are gaining insight into their condition and how to manage it). There's a mild play on words in that hopefully the user will continue to gain Insights over time, so the Insights themselves are chronic :p
Basically it's a symptom diary on steroids. You can see details and screenshots of the beta here: https://chronicinsights.com
