How FDA Workforce Plan started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
Food and Drug Administration (FDA)/Office of International Programs (OIP)/Foreign Post Opportunity & Developmental (FPOD) Program
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The FDA's Office of International Programs (OIP) advances the mission of the FDA and public health worldwide in partnership with other FDA components, other U.S. agencies, foreign governments and international organizations.
The logo is for the Foreign Post Opportunity & Developmental (FPOD) pilot program, which is a newly developed outreach initiative designed specifically for the FDA community. The program has been designed as a learning pathway that will ultimately cultivate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the FDA community as required to effectively meet the agency’s mission abroad.
Participants selected for the FPOD pilot program will participate in at least 3 workshops, followed by up to two supervised short-term (1-3 months) development assignments: One of these short-term assignments will be at OIP Headquarters in Silver Spring, MD and the second at a selected FDA Foreign Post.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?

FDA is shifting from a domestic to a global agency. OIP is in the progress of implementing a workforce plan to develop and provide learning pathways for global compentencies. The FPOD program is an element of the workforce plan, which will include the design of workshops, seminars, and training programs. Whoever is selected as the winner will also get an opportunity, at the same prize level, to design other complementing logos for our Workforce Plan components. One idea is that the FPOD be able to fit with others components of the Workforce Plan. The desired logo for the Workforce Plan will include a globe. In other words, think of small pieces (logos)...maybe even puzzle pieces, connecting in the form of a globe.
