I don't hate my current logo, but feel it is now looking a bit out of date. I want the 'Beacon' to be dominant and the "strategic communications" to be very much secondary. I will be getting a new website produced once new logo done. Again existing one is ok, but looks old, and lighthouses theme a wee bit naff now! (http://www.beaconstrategic.com)
NEW BRIEFING -
Guys and gals, sorry to add this in at this later stage, but I realise now I missed a KEY aspect of what I am looking for the logo to portray...
The name Beacon was chosen primarily as a reflection of the innovative, ground-breaking, BETTER financial services companies that I work with - either providers offering something new and innovative and exciting (like Zopa, Seedrs and Abundance Generation), or as researchers/campaigners trying to educate the public and policy makers as to what needs to be improved and changed in regulations etc to get more companies to do a better job for the consumer. So in other words, these clients are SHOWING THE WAY to a brighter future and a better industry.
In the competition so far, I think I have allowed fixation on the Beacon name more in terms of it as a broadcasting mechanism - a big aerial or whatever - rather than the more emotive, bigger-picture relevance of what me and my clients are trying to do in terms of changing the financial services world in big, bold and innovative ways.
Looking back at my existing logo, although to my eyes it looks a little out of date (maybe the colours are just too pastel?), it DOES do the job well in terms of that shining light graphic over the 'O' reflecting both the play on beacon/lighthouse etc, but also, and equally, in terms of being a shining beacon of something new and exciting! IF you see what I mean!
So, in your next versions, could I ask you to try to instill that bigger picture, "shining beacon of virtue" aspect either as part of a play on beacon/lighthouses/aerials whatever or not?
Do please ask questions if this needs more clarification!
