Heidi Kirrmaier got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Heidi Kirrmaier Designs for Hand Knitting needs a logo
Check out Heidi Kirrmaier's Logo design contest…
I am an independent designer, creating designs for hand knitting. My product is the pattern, which is in the form of a downloadable pdf file that can be printed. Each pattern contains detailed instructions for a knitter to follow, in order to create my design. I currently sell my patterns on Ravelry, which is a web-based community for knitters, but I also sell paper copies to yarn retailers, and intend to set up my own website in the very near future where I would sell the pdf files as well.
Logo types to explore
I'd like to convey that my designs are original and innovative, so the logo should be as well. I strive for intelligent and efficient garment construction, and take great care in creating technically superior patterns that are easy to follow. My designs are simple, clean, and modern, but with soft rather than stark lines. I often utilize plant based fibres (e.g. linen, cotton, hemp) for my designs. I aim to design garments that are equally wearable and flattering for the young as for the more mature. My target audience generally comprises female knitters of all ages (e.g. 20-60), although there are some male knitters that I would not want to leave out! Styles I like include mid-century modern architecture and furniture designs (e.g. Californian, Scandinavian), also Japanese minimalism. Things found in nature like sunlight, birds, sand, water, snow, rain, etc. resonate with me and that are reflected in my design aesthetic. I don't like anything fussy, heavy or contrived. The logo could make use of my initials (HK) and include the tagline "Designs for Hand Knitting by Heidi Kirrmaier" or if it is my full name could include the tag line "Designs for Hand Knitting". But I am open to a simple logo without further tag lines as well. My username on Ravelry is PipiBird. If a bird was featured in the logo, I might like that too.
