PocketPass is a cloud based password management service for your browser and smartphone. Unlike other solutions, you don't need to use a master password. Instead, use your smartphone to authenticate by simply snapping a QR code (generated by the browser extension). Login once with your smartphone and access all your credentials from your smartphone on your browser. PocketPass targets any user who browse the internet, and have a need to manage many website credentials.
Logo types to explore
The main thing is that the logo (exluding the text) must be clear enough when resized to 16x16px, as we'll use the logo/icon for the browser extension icon and other places. It is fine if you design 2 versions: a large one which will be used on the website/print with visible details, and a smaller derivative with details removed to be used as a small icon. Loosely suggested font is Raleway, blue #0077cc and orange #e77817. The attached image is a style of we like, but if you believe a different style is better, then by all means we urge you to go with your vision. By no means will we pick a logo that uses the suggested font and colors over a superior one! The suggested fonts and colors were used on our previous design before we decided on re-branding, so use it if you wish. Here are a few links to companies which have logos that appeal to us: http://getpocket.com/ https://www.sugarsync.com/ https://www.flowdock.com/ http://www.olery.com/ http://pen.io/ http://www.photoshelter.com/ https://www.intercom.io/home/product --- What I like to convey with PocketPass is easy, natural (you could even say organic), something part of the user's lifestyle. As users rely more on their smartphone to aid in day-to-day tasks, we want PocketPass to fit naturally with that, not because it is secure, but because it's convenient and simple to use. So things I would prefer to put less of a focus on is the security aspect. I'd rather the logo lean towards something fun, natural, organic than secure and professional. --- Update on brief (11/8): Based on the submissions that have come in, I don't think pockets with the letter P, key holes or keys are suitable for our logo, so please do not use these elements as the dominating part of your design. We had hoped it would look better but this angle doesn't seem to be appropriate for our logo. Let me clear up what PocketPass means. The pocket aspect is supposed to mean "always with you", the convenience of having your credentials in your pocket, and physically secure, as a remote hacker can't physically get a hold of your smartphone. What we want to convey to people is that just like things in your pocket, such as your keys, wallet, phone - you always have them available and they naturally fit in to your routine. Now that smartphones have become mainstream with a lot of people carrying them - we want to leverage that always with you aspect. So I think rather than a more obvious logo that we were attempting to receive, we suggest you go more abstract, and try to imply particular emotions and meanings. Here are the major elements we would like you to incorporate: - Always available: You carry your smartphone with you everywhere - Convenience: Having PocketPass on your smartphone and not having to type in a long master password whenever you need to access your credentials - Physically security: No-one can steal your credentials remotely without physical access to your smartphone. - Two part connectivity: PocketPass on your smartphone connecting with your browser Currently as of the time of this post, #12 and #49 are closer to what we want. #12 embodies the two part connectivity aspect, and #49 takes a less obviously, abstract approach of representing a pocket. We look forward to your new designs.
