The inaugural Great Parks, Great People Summit will bring together innovators, stakeholders, staff and funders to begin building the future of British Columbia (Canada)'s provincial parks and protected areas.
Our tagline is: "Working together to create the best system of protected areas in the world."
The overarching objective of the conference is: how do we create the best parks system in the world? There will be keynote presentations, small group collaborations, Dragon's Den-style pitches and other lively formats.
Important task: Symbolism in the logo should reflect the nature, biodiversity and outdoor recreation that British Columbia is known for. We want some sort of element that references people (can potentially be literal or abstract). We want an out-of-the-box, wow, inspiring logo.
Words/phrases we're using to describe the conference: future-forward & visionary, solution-oriented, community connection & collaboration, optimism, lively, relevant, celebration, diverse, engaging, making positive change.
Our main colours will be blue and green, inspired by the ocean, lakes, forest and other nature that our province is known for. We would like bright, complimentary colours that are inspired by B.C.'s wildflowers. We have not selected specific shades or pantones for our palette, and are looking for guidance from that (colours you select for the logo will be incorporated to other marketing materials).
Attendees all have some sort of vested interest in B.C.'s provincial parks and protected areas: park operators, park visitors, inventors and entrepreneurs with ideas to support parks, potential funders, etc.
The conference is lead by its steering committee, made up of the BC Parks Foundation, BC Parks (government agency), Elders Council for Parks in BC, Kitasoo/Xai'Xais Nation, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society - BC chapter and the Society of Park Operators.
