You can see our existing logo on harborcity.com. We want the new logo to have a luxury brand look. Imagine this logo printed in gold or foil stamped on a dark teal background. Imagine it applied to product packaging, a 9x12 presentation folder, featured in print advertising.
It needs to "speak": Money. Security. Wealth. Global Presence. Powerful.
We want to focus on TWO (2) design concepts:
#1: Nautical / Rope / Knot / "H" -- a nautical rope knot preferably that incorporates the letter "H". We also prefer abstract look. You can see some of the images I've uploaded into references. We want very iconic and somewhat simple, easy to see, and somewhat abstract (no rope detail) for example. I'm uploading a logo we like but we can't look exactly like it.
#2: Big Ship Anchor Chain / Links / "H" -- this idea came from one of our early 99d submissions in this contest. It's a great concept, and really impressed me. I'd love to see variations on this. I've uploaded some "anchor chain" images in references. You'll notice that these BIG anchor chains have very unique links -- they have a divider cross bar mid-way on the link. The other thing you might notice is when you stand one of these links up on its end there's a GREAT opportunity for the letter "H".
The logo should work well in black and white and color. I'm uploading some color schemes to references. Harbor City's new color branding will focus on "DEEP TEAL" as the foundation color. We're still working out the highlight colors, but looking to use gold and gold foil, or maybe a bronze color.
The logo should be open enough that it does not "close up" when reduced down very small for pens, embroider shirts, etc. It should also be such that we can reverse it out of a square block like a mobile app button etc. I'm a big fan of the branding of chase bank, td bank, and the simplicity of apple inc.
