darbychristian got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Gig business for planting trees
Check out darbychristian's Logo design contest…
One Buck, One Tree is a company founded by two brothers with a long history of community involvement. Their latest project One Buck, One Tree focuses on planting one tree for every dollar given. A simple concept, one dollar equals one tree planted, twenty dollars equals 20 trees planted. Realizing not everyone is in a position to plant a tree, the brothers decided they could provide a service that does it for them. Some call this new business model gig-charity. Everyone knows the importance of trees. One Buck, One Tree’s overall mission is to bring awareness to the importance of trees to our planet. In addition, they have a plan on how to replenish the world’s tree population. We are looking for a logo that conveys the simple message of turning a dollar into a tree in addition to the overall importance of trees. The logo should have two elements. A visual logo that incorporates a dollar and a tree. Something very identifiable as a tree organization. The second is a text element of the organization’s name. Each should be able to live together and separate. We like the words One Buck stacked over One Tree Cartoon graphics are good. We are open to any color choices, any fonts or style of tree/buck representation. The logo should have a youthful feel as both brothers are young men. The logo will be used on a variety of merchandise.
This is a young company and should reflect a young progressive ethos.

Thank you for the work. The logo has an authentic classic look to it like I specifically ask. I am impressed that Mark really got it right the first time even when I didn't know what "right" looked like. :)
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
