Food & Drink
We will be a destination providing a culinary experience with a curated locally grown menu as well as a farmers market where fresh, local seafood and vegetables are for sale. In addition, we will , feature works from local artists. We will be targeting locals but primarily the tourists driving by en route to their summer beach vacation destinations. Target audience is mean and women between ages 18 and 60 who need a fun place to stop for lunch or dinner featuring a locally inspired menu, enjoy a craft beer or local wine, buy fresh seafood or vegetables and experience work made by the local artisans. The target audience is likely stopping en route to a vacation destination or camping at nearby camp sites.
Our multipurpose marketplace and minimalistic restaurant is located in an old grader shed (basic concrete and metal building) on the side of a very busy highway. The business will be located in Virginia on a peninsula bordered by water on two sides. The coastal, relaxed vibe is essential to convey in our logo. We want to incorporate the colors of the water in the background and feature a design that is crisp with some funky flair but not overly ornate. The oysters, clams and Chesapeake Bay blue crab meat that will be sold at the Pearl Mkt will be a primary attraction. Since a pearl is found in an oyster, we want to incorporate an oyster shell in our logo. We like the idea of a play on the concept of "Venus on the Half Shell" and you will see two images attached (super imposed on the side of the grader shed building we own) that show a blond lady on a shell. Pic 2 incorporated feedback from Pic 1 including having her be standing on an oyster shell (not a scallop shell as shown in Pic 1) as well as wearing white boots which are common when walking on an oyster bed. We like the lettering shown in Pic 1 over that in Pic 2. (The business will be Pearl Mkt, not Pearl Market). We do not otherwise like the yellow coloring in Pic 1 and do not intend to have a slogan as shown at bottom of that picture in yellow. We did like the lettering in the picture showing Pearl Mkt as all same size letters (thus, not a distinct upper and lower case). Pic 2 shows some pencil sketches of additional farmstand related items that could be used as reference ideas. We do not want fish to dominate the logo as that is not a primary item for sale. We would like to include some farmstand items in the logo as well as perhaps the Chesapeake Bay blue crab (pictures of that specific type of crab are attached as it is important to feature the correct local crab if it will be on the logo). I have also attached two pictures of locally grown Virginia oysters. I am attaching two pictures of the Pearl Mkt grader shed as it currently looks. It is meant to be a rustic structure. Krog Street Market is an existing very popular business in Atlanta, GA and I am attaching a picture (attached upside down) of that featuring the front of the building and its sign for reference. Lastly, there are two pictures (also upside down so need to rotate) attached that feature the exterior and interior of the Pearl Mkt building.
