jo.dinwiddy got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Fun and modern logo for a personal finance app
Check out jo.dinwiddy's Logo design contest…
The product is a mobile app to help people understand and manage and their spending. Primary audience is consumers looking to better manage their personal spending but there's a potential business use case as well (e.g app is linked to business credit card and an employee can categorize transactions based on which client they're for etc.) The app is pretty basic - whenever you spend money you record it in the app with details such as amount spent, merchant/shop, date/time, category (e.g 'Eating Out', 'Coffee & Snacks', 'Car' etc) and some optional notes describing the purchase. Also, you can optionally link the app with a credit or debit card to have the app automatically ingest transactions you place on that card. Once the app knows about transactions and their categories it gives the user a breakdown of their spending incl. how much they've spent over the last week or month, what categories they've spent it on (a pie chart with slices for the categories mentioned above). The general theme is around giving users better visibility into where their money is going and to give them tools to better organize and understand their spending. There's a big focus on point of sale and immediate categorization from the user - i.e as soon as they swipe their card the app flashes up and asks them to categorize their spend and add any notes about what it was for (how many times have you looked back at an old credit card statement and had no idea what a transaction was for ??!). Similar apps out there - There's a tonne. Spendee, Spendify, Mint, Albert. The difference with SpendPro is a focus on simplicity and capturing data quickly before users forget.
Finance is boring so I'd like to try and keep the aesthetic fun and not too serious.
