Wallendal Farms
Wallendal Farms is a 3rd generation family-owned and operated farm in Grand Marsh, WI. Guided by strong family values and with a commitment to give back to the local communities where we farm, to carefully preserve and enhance our natural resources, and to grow responsibly, we seek to successfully and sustainably grow our farm for future generations as we produce quality commodities. We promote long-term sustainability and mutual success with our communities through leadership, innovation, employment opportunities, production technology, and passionate implementation of environmental stewardship. We grow vegetables and grains – we always have a diverse rotation that includes anywhere from 9-12 crops including but not limited to Pumpkins, watermelons, forage corn, soybeans, snap (green) beans, sweet corn, alfalfa, seed corn, sunflowers, dark red kidney beans, cover crop seeds, grains for forage (milo, sorghum, sudan, etc). In the past 50 years as a farm we have grown over 35 different vegetables! We also are heavily involved in research and do many experiments and plots on the farm. We have bee hives and are propagating environments for natural pollinators. We have and are converting about 1/3 of our acres to organic acres. All our acres are under center pivot Irrigation. In our 5 year business plan we hope to GROW! Grow our acres, add chickens or cows to the mix, and further diversify. Our target audience will be landowners (and potential land owners), local/regional community, potential farm partners, and employees. We hope to use our logo on a sign, magnets, business cards and embroider it on shirts/hats/clothes, etc.
Our Vision Statement is: We passionately challenge ourselves to cultivate growth, personally and collectively, in order to create an enduring environmentally-conscious business and family. Mission Statement: We will succeed by innovating, producing high quality products, building strong relationships, growing our market intelligence and utilizing production technology. Core Values: Innovators, Practicing Integrity, Adaptability, Uphold Family, Partner of Choice, Sustainability.
We are not looking for imagery that is typical when some think of farming. We don’t have a big red barn or typical farm barns and would like to stay away from having that in our logo. We would prefer to stay with a non-identifiable plant. However, if the logo you create was easily changeable (like the Organic Farms diamond design example above) we would be open to having a specific crop depicted. Due to our diversity, if we move away from certain crops, we don’t want to be trapped with a depiction of a crop we no longer grow. We like green as it ties to the cultural roots of our industry. However, we do not want the green to be an overpowering and predominant color incorporated into this logo. Green is not even mandatory to be incorporated. Bright green and yellow is often linked to another, and very large agricultural brand, so we would like to stay away from those hues as well. We really like Orange or other earthy colors…we don’t see really any Orange agricultural logos. We all have a bit of a sense of humor as well, quirky and unique is ok with us! Our 3rd generation here at the farm is aged 29-39 on the farm. A lower priority for us is that we would also like an easily add-able and subtract-able 50th Anniversary sentiment on the logo. 2017 is our 50th year as a farm. But in 2018 we would most likely remove the 50th anniversary part of the logo.
Here is a pinterest board with pins we like: http://pin.it/Ksx7ib7
Attached Pinterest designs:
We really like the Living Seed one, The Green Thumb one (concept of it), Concept of The Seed Africa (without the face, instead with a W). We also like the Sun, Plant, People logo. We also like the concept of the “Organic Farm” logo with the diamonds and have multiple items in the diamonds.
The attached images that say WSI or Wallendal Supply Inc are our old designs, old farm name, and old slogan. We like the leaf but that's all and would really like something new. In the future, we hope to eventually have endorser brands (maybe for selling cover crop seed, pumpkins, watermelons, flowers, honey or other products/by-products direct market).
