Exciting Narwhal mascot needed for an open source software startup

SocketPlane is a open source software company that is changing the landscape of computer networking. We create software that allows applications to be deployed and connected quickly, at scale in a way that is simple to use. A "socket" is a pipe through which applications can communicate. We coined the phrase, "socketplane" to describe the architectural layer in which multiple applications communicate over a network. The target audience for this product/solution are engineers and managers working in IT.

I've collected some images here for inspiration: http://salon.io/dave-tucker/narwhals Why Narwhals? Well our product/solution firmly falls under the category "Software Defined Networking". Our industry has frequently referred to this as a unicorn as it's mythical, idealistic and most definitely not real (or useful) :) Narwhal tusks washed up on beaches gave life to the myth that unicorns may be real and are affectionately referred to as the "Unicorn of the Sea". Our take is, that we have something that could be mistaken for a unicorn (e.g is SDN) but is actually practical and very much real... like the Narwhal. The mascot/logo should fit with the general open source aesthetic which is friendly, fun, playful, colorful. It should be something that a developer would want to wear on a t-shirt. I've also attached our current logo and some sketches of early ideas I've had but no mascot as my art skills only stretch so far.
