Jasper Hill Ventures
I'm 32, been living in China for 5 years, working in the accounting and finance industry. I'm shedding my big-corporate ties and venturing out on my own (well almost). Teaming with a 45 year old former executive, we're leveraging our connections in the US and China to make big things happen. Jasper Hill Ventures is our boutique brand. Named after my late grandfather Granison Jasper Hill, this company is a tribute to the people that made me who I am today. Granison Jasper Hill was a tractor / farm equipment salesman in rural Ohio, USA. where he raised my mother, an amazing woman. Unfortunately he died when she was reasonably young (high school). I want this company to reflect his legacy, his importance, and the respect we hold his legacy while also relaying the capabilities/confidence and forward-facing nature of this new company and the opportunities we hope to make realities.
We will have offices in good/premium locations in both Beijing and San Francisco. (ultimately I will be using a Chinese company name and contact info as well, but we'll get there later).
We're not a retailer, and we won't be soliciting customers via advertising or marketing. We are boutique. Presenting ourselves to business partners directly (via business cards, and personal networks). Those who reach our website will likely do so after they've met us, and are looking to learn more about who we are and what we stand for. Most likely the people we will be interacting with will be wealthy business men, government officials, and other people involved in deals (lawyers, bankers, professionals).
As noted in the "about myself " section, I'm looking for a company identity that we can use to present ourselves to selected business contacts. Limited mostly to use in business cards, email footers, and a simple website, the logo does not need to be complex or flashy.
In some regard I think something understated perhaps a retro, or classic look could be cool. But with a finance background I'm not well placed to give too much artistic direction. I'm open to a wide range of designs and encourage folks to be creative.
As with any brand, I would like the logo to be distinctive enough to be recongizable and to help build a brand over time.
Thanks for the creative help! Looking forward to your awesome ideas helping to propel my new company forward!
