We have a 30+ room Eco-Boutique hotel in Tulum Mexico, nestled on a National Park beach, walking distance from the Mayan Ruins of Tulum. It is a magical place with the best location possible for a quite restful vacation. That site (beach) was the Mayan Kings beach Resort 500 years a go!
Our company and name started 30 years a go with a small hostel in Isla Mujeres, Mexico by the name of "Pocna" (http://www.pocna.com/). This hostel has been open for business for the last 30 years and as a hostel: attracts young, budget, solo or group travelers. Its is budget travel.
As of last year we started operating a new hotel in Tulum, Mexico, targeting a higher more sophisticated clientele; but want to keep using the “Pocna” name. The current name for this hotel is "Pocna Tulum" and website (http://www.pocnatulum.com/). This new property targets a higher class of guests (both Families and couples looking for fun or relaxation, although mostly couples looking for that magical leisure experience away from their normal routine lives). We are working towards increasing our nightly rates up to $400-500 dlls a night by the end of 2019. This new hotel is on the beach, inside a National Park where the Tulum Ruins are located. In addition to its 30+ rooms, it has two newly developed restaurants (sushi restaurant for dinner and healthy international restaurant for well being pampering) as well as a 500+ linear beach of pristine Mexican Caribbean beach club..... In addition to the website, I ask you to please look at our Instagram account @tulumpocna
In another part of the hotel property there is another Turkish restaurant, run by an independent concession and a great cheff. @loyalordertulum look em up in Facebook and Instagram (just to give you and idea).
Because we already had the hostal operation running under the same name for the past 30 years, we want to use and take advantage of the “Pocna” name, history and tradition surrounding the mysticism of its name "Pocna" and create a story around that idea… that started as a business venture into the unknown... in Isla Mujeres, Mexico 30+ years a go and has mutated into something different, into this new Eco-Boutique hotel.
The Story of the name “Pocna”, which is of paramount importance for you to know as the designer in contest, as narrated by the original owner was: that "Pocna is a cauldron where the culture of our clients get mixed together, where the hexagons converge into a star, which is the melting pot of all the cultures.”
Our Logo Design:
Please look at pictures from the website http://www.pocnatulum.com and at the Instagram account @tulumpocna to get a better idea of the property. We are not inclined over any font in particular, albeit red could be used as a primary color because it is used to contrast the white beach and turquoise blue Caribbean water with the colors of the beach chairs, which are red. Our beach club makes up of 500 linear meter stretch along the front of the property. So I thought it could be a good color to go with the hotel’s accessories, logo, etc… but we are open to new ideas.
I am also attaching pictures of the what the original "Pocna Hostel" and its "meeting point in an hexagon form under a large chandelier that makes the melting point looked like 30 years a go.
Throughout the years, the original Pocna logo has suffered alterations and we would like this new logo to go back to its original clean neatness essence, a new idea stemming from the original font and hexagons, but not to varied from that original idea. I am attaching a picture of the original logo made of wood placed on the entrance of the Hostel.
We are looking to conserve the story of our original concept in our new venture into Tulum, Mexico, with an upper class and scale Eco Lifestyle Retreat. That is why I am attaching some pictures of the past, so please don’t forget to look at the websites for both properties so you can see the current logo and propose something from thereon.
What we look for:
We are only looking for creative ideas to bring back to life our existing original logo used 30 years a go… Thus want to update and upgrade the original “Pocna” shown in the pictures attached, using the logo and font into something worthy of this project, the place and the time we live in.
Please take a good look at the pictures of the original logo made in wood and the installations of such made in the white hostal entrance wall, so you can used those hexagons into your new creation to be submitted for contest.
