"Good Chips" is a future certification developed by the European Biomass Association (AEBIOM) that aims at guarantying the quality of wood chips used in heating appliances. As for the fuel used in your car or the food you eat, quality matters when you use wood to avoid problems and get a maximum of energy. "Good Chips" certification is mostly targeting industrial users of wood chips which could be municipalities, hotels, district heating... "Good Chips" logo will be display on contracts, heating appliances, trucks delivering wood chips etc. In this context we are excepting a corporate, simple and strong visual identity.
Compared to traditional logo, the visual identity of a certification need to include two additional technical elements:
1. Different quality classes (A1, A2, B1, B2, C) included in the logo
2. A country code right under the logo, for traceability reasons

Wood peckers are the only animal leaving in forest doing "wood chips" (see attachment), that is why we considered having a pecker as mascot and visual for the certification's logo. The winning logo will certainly be the one presenting the best visual of a wood pecker (being easily recognisable without being too "realistic"/"photographic"). Regarding colors used in the logo we remain open, however wood peckers are either black/white/red or green/black/red. Using these colors would then help making the association with this specific bird.
In order to help you designing "Good Chips" logo, we prepared examples gathering all key elements described in the following draft.
