How thedeparturegate.com started their logo design journey
the departure gate
In short, we create many of the global success stories you shop in every day..... all of the following started with one location.... Body Shop, Flight Centre, McDonalds, Adidas, Jenny Craig, Boost Juice etc etc
the departure gate is a specialist company that invests in strong performing emerging businesses that are capable of international expansion into multiple countries with a long term view of selling the business.
What do we do? invest, build and look to establish in multiple countries around the world.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
the target audience are founders of private companies that are well underway in their domestic market and keen to keep on expanding.... retailers, technology are the core.
The brand will be exposed to CEO's, founders, boards, bankers and eventual acquirers of the invested business. The brand sits in the background to any business that is invested in... i.e no one would know if we sat behind McDonald's but the brand does need to be a top shelf business service brand. It is not a consumer brand - this is B2B.
We look for a business that might have say 40 stores but can move to 150 in Australia/New Zealand then look to have 200 in USA, China etc etc. It is a 3-5 year journey.
Businesses may apply through the website to be considered but we are focused on working closely with a few than spreading too thin.
The logo will be used primarily for:
- brochures and reports
- corporate stationary
- business cards
We want a logo that:
- Really impressive to a corporate/business market
- Conveys professional, dynamic, energic make stuff happen type of business (our key people are 30-40 not 55+)
There needs to be a logo/artwork and very open to lower case use this time.. want an energy brand not tired old private equity or services brand.
Open to how thedeparturegate words are combined but give consideration to how a stacked/shorter version of logo might look given need to use in multiple formats and easy to read.
Now leaning towards non DG options for logo mark...
Style of website might be like clean http://www.woolworths.com.au with explanation panel and some boxes. There also may be a simple strapline introduced at some point near logo like international business builder or building global businesses or driving business value but not fixed right now.
Looking forward to some free thinking options to choose from....
