mgilmore got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Design the new logo for DIY Pole Barns
Check out mgilmore's Logo design contest…
We supply America's do-it-yourselfers and professionals with pole barn kits that are engineered to be simple, affordable, and complete. Our target market is the upper working class home owners with rural property, ages 30-55, about 80/20 men (except horse barn buyers are 80/20 women). These barns are utilized for a variety of purposes including: garages, horse barns, agriculture, storage, hobby shops, "man caves", commercial businesseses, airplane hangers, etc. We position ourselves to be Americana, apple pie, glass of milk. Here for the working man. Sweat, blood, pride. A handshake means more than a signature.
Logo types to explore
We are ready for a new logo that speaks more to who we are. Our current logo (attached) is too complex. The barn has more amenities than what we sell, and its way too difficult to embroider or be seen on a yard sign from the road. It is so busy that our name gets lost in it. We also do not really sell supplies anymore, so we want to drop "and Supplies" from the logo. Being an online retailer we must generate trust quickly though a professional, laid back, serious, fun, simple, trustworthy, recognizable logo which creates the basis for the conversation we are having with our customers. We ARE NOT a builder, so typical contractor logos aren’t a match. We are more like a lumber yard that sells only pole barns. We have seen too many logos with the traditional barn shape or roof line. Think outside of the box. We advertise on yard signs, so we want the logo to be clear and large enough to be easily read from the road. It needs to be a simple and recognizable design that can be easily utilized throughout our website and social media along with being able to be embroidered on hats and jackets. As a reference, our website is www.diypolebarns.com. Some of our competitors include: AB Martin Roofing Supply, Graber Supply, Delmarva Pole Building Supply, Diamond State Pole Buildings, Pole Barns Direct, and Ramco Supply. Some big pole barn builders are Morton Buildings, Walters Buildings, Wick Buildings, FBi Buildings, Quality Structures, Cleary Building, CB Structures, Pioneer Pole Buildings, and Tam Lapp Construction.
