chrisday got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Design the logo for a campaign in an upcoming US Federal election!
Check out chrisday's Logo design contest…
The logo should be able to be incorporated into a slogan as part of the text.
A potential political campaign operating in the New York metropolitan region; target audience is all residents of the area. See "Other" for important notes.
Logo types to explore
This logo would need to be able to be used in political signs and on bumper stickers, as well as a website and on letterhead. Generally, simpler is better - it would need to be able to be a 2 or 3 color vector spot image, if that means anything to you (this is just what the sign printer told me, I have little understanding of these filetypes), and then high res jpg and png for other uses. To describe the concept/mockup attached, it's supposed to be a rising sun emanating from behind the "D" in "Day" (or incorporated as a part of the "D" if you want to try at that), would need to be able to be used both on its own (Like as a part of the name "Day" on a sign) as well as in the context of a slogan or a full name, and needs to stand out clearly/be very legible from a distance. This is up to the individual designer whether you're ok with providing both, but ideally I'd like the final version to be provided in blue background/white lettering format and blue lettering/white or clear background.

so sorry this review is so overdue. Just logged in to ask for modification and saw it was never done. The designer was absolutely wonderful and easy to work with and the design professional.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
